چکیده

We study the use of nonlinear semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) for generating phase conjugate towards compensation distortions in short distance fiber transmission due to Kerr nonlinearity and chromatic dispersion coherent multi-carrier lightwave signals. experimentally demonstrate effectiveness SOA-based conjugator improve link budget with a 100 km standard single mode 20 GHz OFDM signals, QPSK 16QAM modulations corresponding net bit-rate 40 Gbps 80 respectively. Mid-span spectral inversion scheme is employed where generated through partially degenerate four-wave mixing process SOA. bit error rate performance within 2×10 -2 an average launched power up 12 dBm (9 dBm) (16QAM) link. also investigate possible improvement using numerical simulation 64QAM CO-OFDM signals proposed scheme.

Compensation for channel dispersion by nonlinear optical phase conjugation.

Recent theoretically and experimental"5'7-l0 studies indicate that the generation of phase-conjugate replicas of incident optical waves has certain formal aspects of time reversal and that this property can be used to correct for spatial-propagation distortion. In addition, chirp compensation using four-wave mixing has been analyzed."1 In this Letter we explore theoretically what happens follow...

Simultaneous nonlinearity suppression and wide-band dispersion compensation using optical phase conjugation.

Optical phase conjugation is demonstrated to enable simultaneous wide-band compensation of the residual dispersion and the fiber nonlinearities in dispersion-managed fiber transmission lines employing slope-compensating fibers. When the dispersion slope of transmission fibers is equalized by slope-compensating fibers, the residual dispersion and the slope of dispersion slope are compensated by ...

Dispersion and nonlinearity compensation by spectral phase conjugation.

We propose the use of spectral phase conjugation to compensate for dispersion of all orders, self-phase modulation, and self-steepening of an optical pulse in a fiber. Although this method cannot compensate for loss and intrapulse Raman scattering, it is superior to the previously suggested midway temporal phase conjugation method if high-order dispersion is a main source of distortion. The res...

Optical phase conjugation in phase-modulated transmission systems: experimental comparison of different nonlinearity-compensation methods.

We experimentally compare the effectiveness of three different optical-phase-conjugation-based nonlinearity-compensation strategies on a transmission system employing phase-modulated signals, and hence affected by the Gordon-Mollenauer effect. We demonstrate that it is possible to obtain significant nonlinearity compensation, but that no improvement is obtained using configurations specifically...

Optical Phase Conjugation for Dispersion and Nonlinearity Compensation in a 1600km, 42 Gb/s Quasi-Lossless System

We experimentally investigate a long-distance, high-bit-rate transmission system which combines optical-phase-conjugation with quasi-lossless amplification. Comparison with a conventional system configuration demonstrates the possibility of obtaining both dispersion compensation and improved nonlinear tolerance using proposed scheme. ©2009 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (060.4510) Optic...
